What is Hypnosis?

Hypnotherapy has been used for centuries to help overcome all sorts of problems, both psychological and physical. It has been used successfully in helping people to build self-confidence & self-esteem, to lose weight, stop smoking, reduce stress and anxiety, eliminate phobias, and manage pain during surgery, chronic illness and childbirth.

Hypnosis is about focusing your attention and empowering you to regain control over your mind and body. It is about breaking away from old and unhelpful patterns and habits. Deep relaxation stimulates the release of endorphins, the body's natural pain-killers that speed up healing and allow the digestive system to work at it's best.

We learn and function by creating patterns that are stored in the mind. Though essential for our survival, not all stored patterns are useful to us. Some outlive their usefulness while others get created inappropriately. It is important to realise that the mind can create patterns when none actually existed. This can become problematic for us, forcing us into unwanted behaviour and reducing our enjoyment of life. By working directly with the subconscious, hypnosis is a powerful tool for replacing unhelpful patterns with desired ones.

Recognised by the British Medical Association and the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE), hypnotherapy has proven to be a safe, effective alternative that can alleviate a wide range of problems in just a few hours of treatment.
