As many as 10% of us will be affected by a simple phobia at some point in our lives, but it is only when a phobia starts to interfere with our daily life that we are likely to do something about it.
It makes no difference whether the phobia is common such as open spaces, closed spaces, flying, heights, dentists, injections, or spiders or if it is a more unusual one such as buttons, mirrors, driving, or even mothers-in-law. In fact, there is nothing we can't develop anxiety or phobias about. Any person who suffers a phobic response knows that the emotions it provokes are very real and can have terrible consequences by often preventing you from doing things you want to do and leading a normal life.
Hypnosis provides a gentle but effective cure for such problems by providing the opposite of anxiety, i.e. deep relaxation. At the same time, it teaches the mind a different way of responding to the feared object or situation. Hypnosis for phobias works by detaching the stimulus (trigger object) from the emotional response (fear) and 'updating' the brain with a new, more realistic response.
It is a very gentle process that doesn’t involve desensitisation and you will never be made to confront the object of your phobia. A single session is usually enough to completely banish a phobia, without it cropping up again in any other shape or form.
