It's not about swinging clocks, even though hypnosis can make time appear to stand still or speed up. We experience being in a trance-like state many time during a normal day.

It may be while watching the TV or listening to music or even being absorbed in thought. A sudden shock or trauma can have a hypnotic effect while our brain reprograms our responses to the experience.

Hypnosis

Used in a therapeutic context, hypnosis‚Äč is simply a tool which a therapist can use to make therapy quicker and more effective. It is about focusing your attention and empowering you to regain control over your mind and body. It is about  breaking away from old and unhelpful patterns and habits.

Deep relaxation stimulates the release of endorphins, the body's natural pain-killers that speed up healing and allow the digestive system to work at it's best.
