What is BWRT®?
‘BWRT®’ stands for ‘BrainWorking Recursive Therapy®’, a model of psychology and psychotherapy created by UK professional therapist, Terence Watts, MCGI. Like many other modern therapies, it allows a ‘core of privacy’ so that you do not have to divulge anything you would rather not talk about – in fact, the practitioner only needs to know how you feel and how you would prefer to feel instead. BWRT® is a completely new and different therapy based on the latest discoveries about the way the brain works and how it affects our moods, behaviour and emotions. Only Certified Practitioners have been trained to deliver BWRT® and all have to adhere to a strict ethical code.

BWRT® and the Brain
The human brain is constantly receiving inputs from both external internal sources. For every new input, the brain attempts to find a match in its vast database of previously encountered inputs. There is a time delay while it does this known as the cognitive gap.
If the brain finds a match, it immediately puts into place the corresponding response, whether we like that response or not. If it finds an incomplete match or even no match at all, it leads to stress while we don’t know how best to respond.
Most other therapies work on replacing the patterned response once initiated with a more desirable outcome by trying to “reprogram” patterns that reside in the emotional or thinking parts of the brain. This can be difficult and take a long time.
BWRT®, on the other hand, inserts itself into the cognitive gap before emotion or thought really gets going. It does this by creating a wait state, similar to what happens in a natural Freeze, Fight or Flight response. BWRT® can then effectively replace the old undesired response with a new preferred reponse of the client’s choosing.
By engaging all parts of the brain at once, BWRT® is faster, more effective and creates more permanent change than other therapies.
